 Eating certain foods on an empty stomach can be detrimental to health. These include:

Coffee or tea: Although it is tempting to take a cup of coffee or tea in the morning, it is not really a better option to take it on an empty stomach. Drinking coffee or tea on an empty stomach can increase levels of hydrochloric acid to the point of causing vomiting or constipation. Increased levels of acid also slow down the digestion of proteins, which causes bloating, inflammation of the bowel, in the worst case colon cancer.
